In a surprising partnership that breaks traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the official statement, "A strange encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of forbidden practices and fearsome transformations echo through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine group.

The questline centers on "peculiar tests and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Metamorphoses

The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana alongside several objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
